Job Purpose and Impact





The Legal Customs Advisor performs complex customs activities with significant and broad customs knowledge. In this position,





you'll develop customs solutions and advice, and resolve legal disputes and audits by working closely with customs advisory and trade operations leads in compliance with corporate targets and objectives. You'll promote consistency in global use of customs-sensitive data.





Key Accountabilities



- Manage global customs advisory services to set strategy, plan for and design methods that mitigate risks associated with importing and exporting.



- Collaborate with regional customs advisory leads, tax managers and other corporate functions to help the global customs advisory leader develop, define and implement global customs strategies and projects.



- Advise on the development of processes and data requirements for customs/financial/compliance related systems.



- Conduct complex customs-related research and analysis with minimum supervision and resolve customs related issues.



- Lead/support development and implementation of complex technical customs planning solutions to optimize Cargill's customs liabilities/risks.



- Partner with and provide written and verbal advice for complex customs issues, within specialty area to business managers and controllers.



• You will serve as an expert in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues/problems. You may provide direction to lower level team members and be a key contributor.

Qualifications





Minimum Qualifications



- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience



- Competence leading/overseeing high-impact customs compliance



- Experience implementing internal controls, risk assessments and internal audits



- Minimum of eight years of related work experience



- Experience implementing internal controls, risk assessments and internal audits





Prior Beneficial Experiences





- Customs legal advice within the agro-export business or export sector, whether inhouse or not.



- Experience managing diverse populations in multiple geographies to achieve consistent global business plan objectives.



Preferred Qualifications



- Demonstrated customs legal experience within the agribusiness industry



- Demonstrated customs litigation experience



- Ten or more years of professional customs experience



- SAP, global trade services or other customs system experience



- Experience with a Big four accounting firm, major law firm or multinational company
